 The XF23mmF2.8 R WR is an ultra-compact (so-called “pancake”) and lightweight lens with a versatile 23mm focal length (35mm equivalent), a total length of just 23mm, and a weight of approximately 90g. While delivering high-resolution performance compatible with the 40.2-megapixel X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR sensor, this compactness has been achieved through the latest lens manufacturing technologies, allowing for the reduction of the lens's thickness and its external and structural elements to an absolute minimum. This lens is versatile enough to cover standard, wide-angle, close-up, and many other styles of photography, while offering excellent handling and robustness. It thus makes it easy to capture high-quality images in any situation: snapshots, travel, portraits, landscapes, or food photography.

 Ultra-compact and lightweight with high resolution
 The use of an optical formula composed of 8 elements in 6 groups, including two aspherical lenses, minimizes aberrations from the center to the edges and ensures high resolution. This lens is only 23 mm long, the same length as the XF27mmF2.8, and weighs just 90 g. It allows you to capture photos that highlight the subject with a beautiful circular bokeh, while also being capable of close-up shots of small objects.

 Close-up shooting and fast, precise autofocus
 The minimum focusing distance is just 20 cm, which is remarkable for such a compact lens. It uses a full-group-shift focusing system, minimizing aberration variations with distance, resulting in optimal image quality even at close range. A powerful DC motor is integrated to ensure fast and precise autofocus.

 Elegant, ergonomic and durable design
 The manual focus (MF) ring features a high-precision sensor that allows for smooth adjustment even with a very short throw, providing delicate and precise control. Despite its small size, a fixed ring has been added between the MF ring and the aperture ring to prevent any interference between the two; this ensures comfortable, snag-free operation during rotation. Finally, the lens barrel is dust- and splash-proof and operates in temperatures as low as -10°C .
